Common Raven (Corvus corax)
The raven is the largest species of songbird. They are very intelligent birds, and seem to apply reasoning to new situations.
They remain paired all year and perhaps for life.

The Common Raven (Corvus corax) ranges over the western United States and pretty much all of Canada and much of Mexico south to Central America. It also occurs in the Old World.

Ravens are synonymous with the color black. They have a deep, rich black plumage, showing a bluish or purplish glossy tinge or sheen in light. Around the neck, ravens have lightish gray feathers.

Ravens remain paired for life and like to nest in tall trees or cliffs, their nest a large structure made of twigs and branches and lined with moss, grasses and fur. Three to seven spotted light-blue eggs are laid from February to May.

Ravens build large stick nests in tall trees or breaks on a rocky cliff or ledge. Eggs are five to seven in number, greenish with brown spots. Ravens have a loud, deep, throaty call or croak.
