Location and Habitat
Red-eyed tree frogs can be found in the southern Mexico and Central America regions, including but not limited to Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, and northern South America.

The red-eyed tree frog belongs to a diverse group of frogs known as the New World tree frogs.

Red-eyed tree frogs are small to medium sized tree frogs with a smooth skin and a round head with a truncated snout.

The red-eyed tree frog can be found in tropical forests from southern Mexico through to eastern Panama.
Likes to Hang Out:
Attached to leaves, branches or trunks of trees. They prefer the lowland rainforest areas close to rivers and nearby hills.

Red-eyed tree frogs are carnivorous and eat crickets, moths, flies, and other insects, and have been known to eat other small frogs. For froglets, fruit flies and pinhead crickets are the meals of choice.

Startle Coloration Some animals, like the red-eyed tree frog, may scare prey away with their color. Red-eyed tree frogs sleep during the day.

The Red-Eyed tree frog is the most distinctive of the tree frog species and is native to the jungles of Central America. The Red-Eyed tree frog has a long narrow body and hind legs which point outwards, along with its characteristic red eyes.
