Sand lance
A sand lance or sandlance is a fish belonging to the family Ammodytidae. Several species of sand lance are commonly known as "sand eels" or "sandeels", though they are not related to true eels.

Some principal foods include sand lance (Ammodytes hexapterus), Pacific herring (Clupea haringus), capelin (Mallotus villosus), and the invertebrates Euphausia pacifica and Thysanoessa spinifera [16,17,23].

Atlantic puffins eat several types of fish including cod, sand lances, whiting, and haddock. Zooplanktons (euphausiids, mysids, and copepods) are also part of a puffin's diet.
