Sardine is another name for the same fish, which on the coast of Britanny and Normandy is also called celan or celeren. It is readily distinguished from the other European species of Clupea.

The common dolphin eats herring, sardines, cuttlefish, octopus, and shrimp.

Although they do feed on anchovies and sardines most of their prey has little commercial value. They are the only species of pelican that hunts with such dramatic plunging dives.

Feeding Pink-footed Shearwaters feed in offshore waters over the continental shelf, mostly on fish (sardines and anchovies), squid, and small amounts of crustaceans.

: They feed primarily on shoaling pelagic fish such as anchovies, pilchards (sardines), horse mackerel, and round herrings, supplemented by squid and crustaceans. The distance they have to travel to find food varies, both temporally and spatially.

The blacktip shark feeds on small schooling fishes such as herring, sardines, menhaden, mullet, and anchovies, but also eats catfishes, groupers, jacks, snook, porgies, grunts, croakers, flatfishes, triggerfish, and porcupine fish.

In the wild, Humboldt penguins eat small schooling fish like anchovies and sardines. In the Zoo, they receive five types of fish. Their diet is based on the calories needed for different stages of life along with a variety of supplemental vitamins.

The Sei whale is also called the Sardine whale, the Pollack whale, the Coalfish whale, the Japan Finner, and Rudolphi's Rorqual. Large numbers of these whales were hunted until recently for their oil and meat.

Diet entirely on fish, mainly menhaden and anchovies, sometimes sardines (Flying-fish in Caribbean). Also swoops to pick up marine worms from mudflats, and takes shorebird chicks. Plunge-dives for small fish, from up to 10 m. Feeds over fishing nets.

The main prey of the Common Dolphin are squid and small school fish such as sardines, pilchards and anchovies.

canning in New England ( even famous Cannery Row in Monterey, Ca is for
tourists now) but I believe foreign sources buy Herring from Amerian
fishermen.

Lags are carnivorous and feed primarily on squid, herring, sardines, hake, and anchovies. Their primary cause of death at present is human activity; they often become entangled in fishing nets which prevents them from coming up for air.

Hoop traps will be baited with canned sardines. Four days will be allotted for each survey site, with the first day spent selecting optimal sites and setting traps.

A landowner may lawfully live-trap nuisance opossums using sardines or cat food as effective bait. It is unlawful to transport nuisance opossums, other than for the purpose of euthanasia.

Pacific white-sided dolphins are carnivorous (meat eating) and feed primarily on squid, herring, sardines, hake, octopus, and anchovies. They consume about 20 pounds of food a day.

The diet of this shark includes small schooling fish such as sardines and anchovies, as well as larger fish like tuna, mackerel, flatfish and eels. The dusky shark also eats dogfish, catsharks, skates and rays.

This huge predator feeds on krill, one of the tinniest of all shrimp-like crustaceans, as well as algae, codfish, herring, sardines, squid, anchovies and octupi.

The whale shark feeds chiefly on plankton, but also consumes sardines and anchovies.

Like all members of the Rorqual group of whales it is a filter feeder and it feeds mainly on small schooling fish such as herring, mackerel and sardines.

They are found near the ocean surface usually far from land feeding on schools of smaller fish like sardines and anchovies, which they often shepherd with their sails, making them easy prey. They also feast on squid and octopus.

Pelicans look for their prey from the air and then dive into the water to capture it in their expandable pouch. The water is drained from the pouch and then food is swallowed. Pelicans feed on menhaden, mullet, sardines, pinfish, herring, ...

The Xantus's Murrelet feeds far out at sea, often in association with large predatory fish like tuna, on larval fish like anchovies and sardines. It is a wing-propelled diver, chasing down prey under the water with powerful wing beats.

Reversal of this oral suction allows the whale to force the sediment back out of the mouth trapping food items in its baleen plates. When in their southern breeding grounds, the whales typically fast, although they are known to feed on sardines.
