The satin bowerbird collects sticks, twigs and grasses to construct a tiny 'tunnel of love'.
The satin bowerbird, Ptilonorhyncus violaceus, prefers blue decorative articles. The bower is constructed by the male in his effort to attract a female and probably has no other function than for the courtship performance.
You can see and access part of the walk from the parking lot. A Satin Bowerbird has decorated his bower with blue plastic straws from the O'Reillys restaurant. The bowerbird himself was not around the nest this week.
