Savannah Sparrows are our most ubiquitous native sparrow. They inhabit grassy areas, but are not too fussy about where; so they are common to fairly common almost anywhere in the province that is open and grassy.

Two Red-winged Blackbirds and 2 unidentified land birds possibly Savannah Sparrows followed the boat for a time. We also had a flock of 34 Hudsonia Godwits, 1 Sanderling and 1 Semipalmated Plover.
One time I came across a flock of four Ipswich Sparrows that were hanging out near the base of the jetty on the south end of Oregon Inlet, along with one regular Savannah Sparrow - the most Ipswiches I've seen at one time! ...
In the eastern United States, the most similar species are the Savannah Sparrow and the Grasshopper Sparrow. The Savannah Sparrow has distinctive yellow on the lores,the area between the bill and the eyes, and on its eyebrow.
