The Western Scrub-Jay (Aphelocoma california) is a non-migratory member of the Corvidae family found in scrub and dry woodlands of oaks and piñon pine from Washington to Baja California.
This scrub-jay was listed as Threatened in 1987, but its 1999 recovery plan has been poorly implemented. Because Critical Habitat has not been designated, protection mechanisms are weak.
