Shrimp are distinguished from the superficially similar prawns by the structure of the gills, and by the fact that female shrimp brood the eggs on their pleopods.

Shrimpfish, also called razorfish, are four small species of tropical marine fish in the Genera Aeoliscus and Centriscus, of the family Centriscidae. They are found in the Indian and Pacific Oceans.

Brine shrimp can be found in salt lakes and brine ponds through out the world. They thrive in extreme environmental conditions such as high salinity and temperature where predators can not survive.

'Crangon' is Greek for shrimp.

This shrimp is known for the orange coloring along its sides and the long red stripe on its dorsal side that is bisected by a narrow, white band. It also has white spots on its tail and three pairs of white antennae.

The fairy shrimp is a beautiful, translucent crustacean, which lacks a carapace, and is considered to be rather primitive as it has a relatively large number of segments and the legs are not specialised (5).

Coral banded shrimp are often found in pairs in the wild; the females are usually larger than their male counterparts. These "cleaner shrimp" will rid coral and fish neighbors of parasites and debris, and are vital to coral reef ecosystems.

Q: How long do brine shrimp live, and is that what zooplankton mostly is ? I know there is crustaceans and jellies , but what is the most common in Monterey Bay , Cal.?

Shrimp fishing kills many sea turtles because the turtles drown in the nets. U.S. fishermen have been persuaded to use turtle excluders on their nets which reduces the kill.

Shrimplike crustaceans are responsible for the flamingo's pink color. The birds pale in captivity unless their diet is supplemented.

Live shrimp or jigs tipped with fresh shrimp are the best baits for conventional fishermen. Fly fishermen patiently pole through shallow flats stalking these elusive fish. Bonefish are very seldom eaten and should be carefully released.

Tidewater gobies feed mainly on small animals, usually mysid shrimp, gamarid amphipods, and aquatic insects, particularly chironomid midge larvae (Swift et al. 1989; Swenson 1995; Moyle 2002).

A successful stratagy used by many to find Jaegers is watch for a shrimp boat working close to shore with a large flock of gulls.

Feeds on frogs, reptiles, fish and invertebrates, including snails, dragonflies, shrimps and crayfish, with most feeding done at dusk and at night.
