Description: 2½" to 3 1/8" snout-vent length; to 10½" overall. Color brown to black, often lighter to center of back, with 6 or 7 narrow light stripes down back and sides.

The six-lined racerunner is Minnesota's largest lizard reaching a length of 9 1/2 inches (Conant and Collins, 1991). A colorful lizard that will not be as difficult to distinguish as the other two MN species.

The Six-lined Racerunner is typically dark green, brown or black in color, with six yellow or green-yellow stripes that extend down the body from head to tail. The underside is usually white in color on females, and a pale blue in males.
The six-lined racerunner was just recently added to the state list. Only one population is known in the state and it is likely that the lizard has entered West Virginia via railroad bridges crossing the Potomac River from Maryland ...
Eastern Six-lined Racerunner Cnemidophorus sexlineatus sexlineatus. Uncommon to locally fairly common statewide. Most frequently encountered in southern portions of Alabama, but considerably less common than in the past.
RANGE: The Six-lined Racerunner is found along the east coast from Maryland to the Florida Keys, southwest through eastern Texas and north through southeastern Missouri.

Two subspecies, the Prairie Racerunner (Aspidoscelis sexlineata viridis) and Six-lined Racerunner (Aspidoscelis sexlineata sexlineata), intergrade in the state.
This species is also known as the Six-lined Racerunner, Whiptail, or Field Streak.

Wisconsin specimens have recently been reclassified as the Prairie Racerunner (Aspidoscelis sexlineata viridis), while previously they were considered the Six-lined Racerunner (A. s. sexlineata). The genus also recently changed from Cnemidophorus.
