This nocturnal primate spends the day curled up in a tight ball. It approaches prey slowly and stealthily, before reaching out and grabbing it with both hands.

The smallest is the slender loris (Loris gracilis) of the forests of Madras and Ceylon, a creature smaller than a squirrel.

Best known are the slender loris (Loris tardigradus), with an 8-in.-long (20-cm) body and very thin legs, and the slow loris (Nycticebus coucang), with a 16-in.-long (40-cm) body and short, thick legs.
