Slender Snipe Eel Nemichthys scolopaceus
This long, slender, deep-sea eel has remarkable jaws, shaped like a bird's bill, with the ends turned out so that they can never fully close.

Natural History
Snipe eels have birdlike beaks with curving tips. Their beaks are covered with tiny, hooked teeth-the eels sweep their beaks through the water to entangle the antennae of tasty shrimp.

Snipe eels are another pretty crazy looking fish. When they reach their full length of up to 1.2m, they resemble a long piece of ribbon or string with a bulbous little head on the end.

They are opportunistic feeders, hunting cuttlefishes, squids, snipe eels, small sharks, and other fishes found in their deep reef and volcanic slope habitats.

ANGUILLIFORMES
