Description The southern leopard frog grows to a length of 2 to 3.5 inches (about 5 to 9 cm). Its color varies from tan to several shades of brown to green.

Large, globular egg masses are attached to submerged stems, usually in water more than a foot deep. The tadpoles very closely resemble those of the southern leopard frog and normally transform in about 12 weeks.

There are similar, related species of frogs that has similar care such as the Southern Leopard frog Rana sphenocephala.
There is also, however, one frog that looks deceptively similar called the Pickerel Frog or Rana palustris.
