Animals Two-toed AmphiumaTyrannosaurus

Two-toed sloth (Choloepus didactylus)
The Two-Toed Sloth, along with its cousins the Hoffman's and Three-Toed Sloths, represents a primitive
and fascinating group of animals.

Two-toed sloths are slightly larger than their three-toed relatives. They are able to survive in captivity, while three-toed sloths are not.

Two-Toed Sloth
Choloepus didactylus
Physical Description
Two-toed sloths are 21 to 29 inches long and weigh about 9 to 17 pounds. Their brownish-gray fur curves from the stomach to the back, unlike most mammals, allowing rain to run off.

Two-toed sloths are found in tropical rainforests and cloud forests in Central and South America - ranging from Nicaragua to southern Brazil.

Sloths are truly bizarre creatures, very high on the list of things I wanted to see most in Panama.

Linne's Two-Toed Sloth
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Sloths have long tan, gray, or brown fur. During the rainy season their fur appears bluish green due to a blue-green algae that covers their coat.

The somewhat larger two-toed sloth (Choloepus) has very long hair. It eats a less restricted vegetarian diet. Sloths move sluggishly but can strike swiftly and powerfully if attacked. Huge ground sloths (see megatherium) are extinct forms.

The Linn's sloth is a good size weight but looks fatter than it really is because they have extra skin. The arms of the sloth are long which have two very small claws at the end of their hands so that's why they call it the two-toed sloth. The ...
