Kangaroo - name for a variety of hopping marsupials, or pouched mammals, of the family Macropodidae, found in Australia, Tasmania, and New Guinea.

 


Common Wallaroo Macropus robustus
(aka Euro)
The Common Wallaroo is distributed throughout most of Australia where it is found in eucalypt forest and woodland, scrubland and grassland where there are escarpments and rocky slopes.

OUR ANIMALS:
We have a small mob of wallaroos, all acquired or born here since 1995. 2 joeys (baby wallaroos) were born in 2011.
STATUS IN WILD:
Not endangered at present.

There are four species of kangaroo, eight wallabies and two wallaroos in this genus.

A kangaroo is any of several large macropods (the marsupial family that also includes the wallabies, tree-kangaroos, wallaroos, pademelons and the Quokka: 65 species in all).

And speaking of black mammals, this is a Macropus bernardus (Black Wallaroo). I think it is saying "What's up, doc?".
This kind of beautiful rocky habitat is where Black Wallaroos live.
