The Whimbrel (Numenius phaeopus) is a shorebird which nests in the Arctic tundra and winters in wetlands along the coasts of the southern U.S. south into South America.

Whimbrels consume a wide variety of food throughout the year. During breeding season, these omnivorous birds depend on old berries and the Arctic's abundant insects.
