Whitebait
This article is concerned with whitebait as the juvenile of various species of fish around the world; for other uses of the term see whitebait (disambiguation).

Silversides, known commercially as whitebait, eat insects and small crustaceans. The small (3 in./7.5 cm) tidewater silversides, Menidia menidia, is found along the Atlantic coast; the similar brook silversides is a freshwater species.

Also whitebait or fish larvae.
The puffin's distinctive bill has given it the nicknames of 'sea parrot' and 'bottle nose'.

Fish form only a small part of their diet but whitebait are taken in the lower reaches of the rivers in spring and goldfish in ponds are not safe.

Their numbers are also being threatened by pollution and climate changes like El Nino. Commercial fishing has also depleted the favourite food for puffins which include sand eels and whitebait.
