Wild Cats prey on small mammals such as rodents (e.g. Rats or mice), hyraxes, hares, and the young of small antelopes, as well as birds and sometimes invertebrates and reptiles.

African Wild Cats (Felis lybica) are small, fierce that live in forests, grasslands, and brush lands in Africa and the Middle East.

Wild cats are found throughout continental Europe, southwestern Asia, and the savannah regions of Africa. Felis silvestris is currently regarded as being made up of three, distinct groups (or subspecies): F. silvestris lybica, African wild cats, F.

Wild cats rarely live healthy, happy lives in private, captive environments, which usually fail to meet their special care, housing, nutrition, and social needs. Pet cats were domesticated thousands of years ago.

The bobcat is a wild cat that weighs an average of 33 pounds when it is full grown. Its body is 26 - 42 inches in length and its tail is 4 to 8 inches long. These medium sized cats average 2 feet tall. Their coat is light brown to reddish.

A greater degree of sociality has been observed among cheetahs than is the case for most wild cats, with the exception of the lion. Male and female litter-mattes tend to stay together for about six months after independence from their mother.

The first housecats were most likely descended from African Wild Cats. Obviously, having Wild Cats around the house, can be a very risky relationship, for both species, but it had some clear benefits.

Bobcats (Felix rufus) are small wild cats with reddish-brown or yellowish-brown coats, streaked with black or dark brown. They have prominent, pointed ears with a tuft of black hair at the tip.

The real predators that keep their population in check are mostly wild cats, several cats, genets, mongooses, jackals, ratels and large owls. Regardless, they are very numerous and not in any danger as a species.

The bobcat is one of three wild cat species to be found in Canada. The others are the Canadian lynx and the cougar. Nova Scotia has the highest population of bobcats in North America.

The mountain lion is also known as the cougar, puma, panther, and catamount, and is the largest wild cat in North America. Its fur is beige in color and it has a white belly. Young mountain lions have spots, but adults do not.

Fifty-eight nations, including Canada, approved a protective measure for all wild cats. These measures include controlling the import, export, and use of such skins.

Range:

The major problem confronting the Florida panther is one common to all small and fragmented populations of wild cat, that of lack of breeding success, due mainly to abnormalities associated with in-breeding.

There are also times when they will be active during the day. Like some other types of wild cats including jaguars, leopards and tigers, ocelots are solitary for most of the time. Male and female ocelots will meet during mating periods.
