The zebra shark is often seen by divers around coral reefs. Its long, ridged body and densely spotted skin make it unmistakable.

Zebra sharks are caught for their meat, which is eaten fresh, or dried and salted like jerky. Its fins are used for shark fin soup or in traditional Chinese medicines.
The Family "Zebra sharks"
Only one species represents this family, the zebra shark, Stegostoma fasciatum. Zebra sharks can only be found in the Indo-West Pacific area, from the Red Sea down to Australia.
ZEBRA SHARK
Stegostoma fasciatum is a common bottom-dwelling shark that grows to 11.5 feet (3.5 m). Although the young have zebra-like stripes (yellow on black), adults have leopard-like patterns (brown spots on tan) on their upper surface.
Whale sharks are closely related to wobbegone, nurse, carpet, blind, bamboo, and zebra sharks. Sharks in this order have an anal fin, two dorsal fins, and a mouth located in front of their eyes.

They will follow a fish into a hold or crevice and attempt to grab it, or block the hold with their body until the fish tries to leave. Zebra sharks are also thought to be nocturnal.
