Aeration. Essential factor to aquarium fish
As we all know rivers and lakes are the natural habits for fish and other marines. Rivers and lakes have large surface area which makes maximum provision of oxygen for fish survival possible.

Aeration
Fish extract dissolved oxygen from the water and exhale carbon dioxide, creating a shortage of the former and an excess of the latter. Aeration is the process of returning these two dissolved gases to their normal proportions.
AERATION
Here a question arises: should we speak of aeration or oxygenation? The two terms lead to confusion, and it is sometimes thought that aerating the water means introducing oxygen.

Fish "breathe" oxygen from the water, and water absorbs oxygen from the air. This is why aeration is important in a tank setup.

Aeration: Power filters will do most of the oxygen enrichment, just as long there is sufficient agitation of the surface, and this will promote the exchange of gasses (Oxygen is absorbed, and CO2 is eliminated).

Aeration is a very good idea since goldfish have very high oxygen requirements. Bubble wands are good, but can clog.
Aeration is not good for planted tanks during the day as the increased surface agitation causes CO2 in the water to be released and so plants can suffer from lack of CO2 to grow.

- Aeration - Increasing the oxygen concentration in your water will serve to drive down the carbon dioxide concentration. As discussed above, less carbon dioxide translates to a higher pH.
Aeration means only adding air, or more specifically, oxygen to the water. Long ago, filters were far less efficient and moved far less water than those we use now. Airstones had a functional place in the hobby.
High aeration and water movement make for a healthy environment in the aquarium. Rocks and driftwood help to accent a natural habitat and provide hiding spaces to cut down on stress for the Magnum Plecostomus.
Good aeration (good in so far as the manner in which the water is aerated, not good as in quantity) is probably the largest contributing factor for good production. Some species prefer no aeration, but Daphnia magna seems to do well with it.

Just like humans cannot live without oxygen, neither can fish. For us, we are able to obtain oxygen from normal air. However, most fish can only obtain dissolved oxygen in water.
Increase Aeration This action has two faces. By increasing the aeration you are forcing hot air to pass through the relatively cooler water.

The addition of one half ounce of salt per gallon of water will prevent methemoglobin from building up. Chlorine salt is preferable, however any aquarium salt is better than no salt at all.
Keep good aeration in the tank to help develop bacteria.
Avoid using medications, as these kill bacteria.
Don't feed your fish at all if your ammonia readings are high, as this will cut down on the ammonia that the fish produce.
Increase aeration. Increased temperature leads to increased metabolism, which enhances the fish's immune response but also increases oxygen demand.

Even the simplest aeration/filtration system, such as a corner box filter and air pump, will aerate an aquarium. In addition, good housekeeping eliminates dead plants and other decaying organisms.
Poor filtration and aeration will prove fatal. Make sure you provide as much of both as possible. Water changes are also highly important. Failure to do regular water changes will also prove fatal.
Breeding is quite difficult.

Aeration ornaments
Aeration ornaments are used to bring some action into the tank.
Extra aeration is suggested for optimal oxygen levels. With a fine sand substrate, undergravel filtration is very difficult to implement.
Some experts claim that there is no need for filtration and aeration systems for the betta fish aquarium because this type of tropical fish does not really need as much dissolved oxygen in the water as the other kinds.
These fish do well in tanks with plenty of aeration, as they are an active fish. Allowing algae to grow may also help oxygenate the tank. Breeding There is not a lot of data on breeding the Red Piranha in captivity.
Use good aeration.
