[edit] What is an Air Pump?
An Airpump is used to aerate the water. It plugs in to a regular electrical outlet and is usually attached to an air stone, tubing, etc. It is designed to pump air bubbles up through the tank.

By EmeraldEmpress Rena Airpumps I have heard a lot of people complain about noisy air pumps, and how they drive them insane. I had this problem too when I first ...

An Air pump is a device that forces air usually through tubing for various purposes.

Keep the Air pumping!
Consider this analogy. Say you are in a room with closed doors and windows, but you have lots of air circulation and air conditioning.

Air Pump: A pump which is used to deliver air to the aquarium. The pump pushes air through silicon tubing and to air stones or other aquatic decor. They are also an essential for UGF's (undergravel filters).

air pump
A pump that injects air into your aquarium, to drive sponge filters or under gravel filters, protein skimmers, air stones, etc.

Air Pump - A small electric pump, usually of the diaphragm type, used to deliver air to an aquarium.
Air Stone - A finely perforated ceramic, glass or wooden block which diffuses air from an Air Pump into the water in the form of tiny bubbles.

Air Pump - An electro-mechanical pump used to supply air to air stones, lift tubes,
and decorations.

Air Pumps, One of the first devices made for use in the aquarium still continue to play an important part in aquarium keeping. No longer a necessity, Air pumps today can be used as a source of supplemental water circulation and Oxygen supply.

Air pumps come in different shapes and sizes but the most popular ones are tecax air pump from Taiwan together with ‘dyna free, and the dragon' another popular one is super 555 from India though cheaper, but not as rugged.

Air pump.
Air Hose -- about 9 to 10 feet of 3/16" flexible tubing.
Gang Valve -- the extra valve is to bleed off air saving wear and tear on the pump and give better bubble control in the culturing containers.

Air pumps are employed to adequately oxygenate (or in the case of a heavily planted aquarium, provide carbon dioxide to) the water.

6) An air pump or water pump, but again only if an undergravel filter is used. A power filter comes with its own motor.

Vibrator air pumps use a diaphragm to move back and forth over a valve body that draws air in and then expels it to the air outlet. The diaphragm is vibrating about 3000 (220V) to 3600 (110V) times a minute depending on the Hertz of the power supply.

Electric air pump- for your sponge filter. You don't need one to power an air stone but many fish seem to enjoy swimming in and out of the bubbles so it's down to personal choice.

Just avoid any air pumps in the tank, do not cause water to splash at he surface (another reason to avoid Overhead filters).

Well alright, maybe you won't become Prime Minister because you know everything about the fish hobby, but buying a good fish book would be invaluable to you.

Battery-operated air pump: If there should be an unexpected power outage, the first priority will be to maintain oxygen levels in your aquarium. Several styles of battery-operated pumps are available.

13. Plug In - air pump, heater and light. Adjust heater as per instructions on box.

Most hobbyists, however, use an air pump to power an undergravel filter. An airstone connected to the air pump by tubing is placed at the bottom of an undergravel filter lift tube.

air pump A pump which supplies air for lift tubes, skimmers, bubblers, etc. The most common type are diaphragm pumps, though cylinder pumps are available for large installations. algae Plant-like organisms which grow in water.

They are in a 55 gallon tank with plenty of water current from two power filters (aqua-tech and whisper) and an air pump(whisper) with an airstone and bubble wall.

Aerate with a strong air pump! This will help to increase the exchange of gases at the waters surface, thereby helping to raise DO levels. It will also aid heat exchange at the surface.

Air Pumps
An air pump simply bubbles air through your tank. Air pumps serve two purposes. First, they insure that your tank maintains an adequate concentration of oxygen.

Just to make sure, check that you have a filter and an air pump. These are the most important pieces to the whole set up. If you are buying your tank as a kit, make sure it is specified to be a coldwater set-up.

Air tubing and air stones fit into these tubes and connect to an external air pump. At the top of the tubes are filter media inserts, usually carbon or resin, to provide some chemical filtration, though these must be changed frequently.

A standard air pump pushes air through a porous block (either made of wood, glass, or ceramic material) which produces fine bubbles. Usually, a separate water pump is required to provide flow through the skimmer and back to the aquarium or sump.

An air pump provides circulation, which draws water through the gravel. This promotes excellent micro-organism growth to convert harmful ammonia in the tank.

4 Ft Model (48" L x 6" W x 31" H) includes biological powerhead filters, heater, light tube, air pump, air diffuser, thermometer, plus choice of background and frame finish. Full install price is $2,495.00 with saltwater setup an additional $300.00.

If you are using good air pumps this is not always needed, since the air pumps will refresh the air at the water surface.

Step 5: If you opted to add an air pump, run the airline and air stones. Be sure to follow the instructions on the box of the air filter that you purchase.

The countercurrent and cocurrent skimmers use a limewood air stone in conjunction with a strong air pump to produce very fine bubbles. The larger the unit (in height) the more effective it will be.

Even the simplest aeration/filtration system, such as a corner box filter and air pump, will aerate an aquarium. In addition, good housekeeping eliminates dead plants and other decaying organisms.

The water is then pushed out into the aquarium by means of an air-lift (see panel on page 239) fed by an air pump.

To obtain maximum longevity and performance from your air pump, avoid restricting a pumpĀ's output. Use a gang valve which provides one more outlet than the objects to be driven.

Since they are often kept alone, the aquarium does not take long to stabilize and the tank can be kept without filtration or with a small sponge filter powered by an air pump. Some tanks are kept without substrate for ease of maintenance.

Oxygen can be added to the aquarium through an air pump attached to some sort of air stone, by utilizing a filter that creates much surface disturbance, or by using a wet-dry filter system.

They also require the assistance of the air pump. This filter uses activated carbon and glass wool (or peat moss) to serve as biological filters.

when i got my tank i just let the filter and air pump run for about 2 hours and added my fish then, i put in 5 zebra danios, only lost one. although i should have let it go for about a day.

under-gravel filter - A type of filter placed under the substrate that utilizes an air pump or power head to pull water through the gravel and thus oxygenates the bacteria to help in the nitrogen cycle. Not recommended for live plant tanks.

They also preferred oxygenated water and an air pump is strongly recommended for Acestrorhynchus falcatus (Spotted Cachorro). The aquarium should be well cycled when introducing this species since it's very sensitive to changes to water changes.

Whichever type of skimmer you buy, the final cost of the skimmer must not overlook the need for an external water pump and potentially an air pump.

If you use an air pump, make sure it is fitted with a check valve so it won't siphon water during a power outage. Keep a thermometer on or in the tank so you can monitor the temperature during a power failure.

This also goes for all air pump powered figurines, etc. But if you're reading this blog you probably threw those out years ago anyway. If you haven't yet, please do, before you give Takashi Amano a heart attack! ...

The head and amount of water that an air lift can pump is a function of the ratio of air to water, the amount of air pumped in, the depth of the diffuser, ...

Now to answere your question, back then there was a bottom cleaner with a bag and worked with an air pump (I am looking for one also in shops) . At this time be carefull of what you realy need as to what they say you must have.
