Allopatric Speciation: The differentiation of geographically isolated populations into distinct species.
· Allopatric population = Similar but slightly different species which do not live in the same place · Allopatric speciation = The process by which part of a species adapts to a new environment and finally becomes a different species.
The proposed species are allopatric-they occupy different geographical areas. Obviously, it is not possible to observe reproductive isolation in allopatric groups directly.
Fryer had a paper in which he outlines the changing lake levels as a method of allopatric speciation, which makes sense.
Thus many different forms result from a single species (allopatric speciation). DC: Mbunas are hardy and aggressive fish that are quite beautiful when kept in numbers.
