Altum Angelfish, Orinoco Angel, Deep Angel [Pictures] ...
"Pterophyllum altum", (common name: Altum Angelfish or Orinoco Angelfish) occurs strictly in the Orinoco River Basin and the Upper Rio Negro watershed in Southern Venezuela, Southeastern Colombia and extreme Northern Brazil.
Near the cash register is a large aquarium full of lively wild-caught altum angelfish. James imported 600 of them last year when they were 2" long, and sold them for $35 each.
One of the only stores that I've seen with Altum angelfish in stock. Also he breeds his own Discus, and has quite a variety of them at a really decent price. His fish selection is on the thin side. A lot of tanks but not many fish varieties.
They are an interesting and cute fish to watch and do a good job at cleaning up after the other fish. They make a good community fish and won't scare other delicate fish like discus and altum angelfish.
