These fish are often confused with red devil cichlids (Amphilophus labiatus) and most midas sold in pet stores are hybrids of the two species.

I personally believe many of the "calico" Bloody Parrots seen on the market are from the latter pairing. It is also possible that Amphilophus labiatus, or even Archocentrus species are used in creating Bloody Parrots.

Severum (Heros severus) and the Midas Cichlid (Amphilophus citrinellus) or the Red Devil (Amphilophus labiatus)
Gold Severum (Cichlasoma severum) and Red Devil (Cichlasoma erythraeum) ...

Amphilophus citrinellus
Amphilophus festae
Amphilophus labiatus
Amphilophus trimaculatum ...

I would just refer to the Red Blood Parrot (possibly the result of breeding Amphilophus labiatus and Heros severus). As in this case, the result will be the distribution of something that could never exist in the wild.
