The Four-Eyed Fish Anableps anableps, is truly an amazing creature. The pupil in each eye is horizontally divided into 2 parts, allowing it to be able to see clearly below and above the water.
Anableps anableps SYN : Anablepsanonymus, A. gronovii, A. lineatus, A. surinamensis, A. tetrophthalmus, Cobitis anableps PD : The body is long and cylindrical, while the head is flat with protruding eyes.
Further into the same exhibit is dedicated to some of the odder species of the rainforest, such as the four-eyed fish, the Anableps (Anableps anableps) of Mexico.
Other types of livebearer such as the four-eyed fish (Anableps anableps) are kept because of their slightly odd appearance which can be appealing to more experienced aquarist who are looking for something a bit different.
Other livebearing species kept by aquarists, though far less commonly than the Poeciliidae are the splitfins, family Goodeidae; the halfbeaks, family Hemirhamphidae; and the four-eyed fish Anableps anableps, family Anablepidae.
