The Anubias barteri "coffeefolia" in my 200 liter tank has grown incredibly fast for an Anubias. The rhyzome has divided several times, in fact, and the plant is easily quadrupled in size in less than a year.

Anubias barteri is the most commonly available species of Anubias and there are several varieties having different leaf forms and varying in overall size. A. barteri var. nana is the smallest and the species most often seen in the hobby.

Anubias barteri (family Araceae) is a much more robust plant than the nana variety and its round or heart shaped leaves can add a lot to the aquarium.

Nana (Anubias barteri v. Nana)
Nana is yet another aquarium plant that offers the best of both worlds. Beautiful yet low requirements (Does not require CO2 injection nor very strong lighting).

It is able to thrive in harsh conditions so well that it is often celebrated as "invincible". Anubias barteri is a diverse species with many variations, of which var. barteri and var. nana are the most common.

Those of you who have used Flourite know how bad that stuff is even after rinsing many, many times. There is a small Anubias barteri v. nana and Hygrophila difformis (Water Wisteria) in there for perspective on the water cloudiness.

When I had done this and secured it in place using tank safe Epoxy resin I spread a thin layer of coral sand over the base to cover the polystyrene and to finish it off added a couple of heads of Anubias barteri var nana which I knew would quickly ...
