Archerfish - Toxotes jaculatrix
Species name: Toxotes jaculatrix
Synonym: Sciaena jaculatrix, Toxotes jaculator ...
Most of the ones included here will be in the suborder percoidei and include the Glassfishes, Flashers, Sunfishes, True Perches, Fingerfishes or Moonfishes, Archerfishes, and Scats (Argusfishes). Many of these fish are brackish, but not all.

The Archerfish can shoot water out of the aquarium and are really good jumpers. A tank with a hood is needed.
Archerfish - Eats live foods exclusively.
Banjo Catfish - Prefers live foods, but can be trained to accept freeze dried tablets.
Bettas - Prefers live foods but will accept flakes and freeze dried.

PD : The Archerfish is moderately elongated and laterally compressed with a pointed head. The eyes are large and set fairly far forward.

The Archerfish posseses the ability to compensate for refraction at the surface of the water. The maximum distance of an accurate shot of water is thought to be 1.5 metres (5 feet).

In the coastal/mangrove forest zone, the species that are of interest to the aquarist are brackish water fishes (mud skipper, archerfish, bumblebee goby, puffer, monos, etc.) and of course the marine species.
Hence the name, "Archerfish". I have found these fish easy to keep as long as you keep the water slightly salty with plants (plastic) and branches.
Suitable tankmates are archerfish, glass fish, etroplus cichlids and the two well-known species of Monodactylus.

Scats are largely vegetarians and therefore should be fed with mostly vegetable matter.
