A second species, Astyanax jordani, is identical in every respect except that it has eyes and lives in streams on the surface. The two species are sometimes confused in name; and the blind species is sometimes incorrectly referred to as A.

Blind Cave Tetra (Astyanax jordani)
These are curious fish- as their name suggests they are completely blind, having no eyes at all! They live in caves in the wild and have no pigmentation so are a light pink colour.
