Barbus nigrofasciatus, Günther, 1868 Origin:Sri Lanka, in the southwestern parts of the Island. Here the fish can be found in densely planted slow flowing creeks. Etymology: Nigrofasciatus means with black stripes.

SYN: Barbus nigrofasciatus PD: A high-backed, deep bodied fish that lacks barbels. The head is dark crimson red in color and the flanks are marked with three to four, dark transverse bars.
