This article is intended for Betta splendens breeders breed the beautiful Double Tails.

Betta splendens can be housed in pairs, species tanks, and community tanks. Pairs can be housed in a 10 gallon tank, groups should be housed in a 30 gallon tank or larger. Pairs should be given cover such as caves and plants.

The Plakat, or Plakad, is a short-tailed Betta, and is the most closely related to wild Betta splendens or traditional fighting Bettas.

The Siamese Fighting Fish (Betta Splendens) is a beautiful and hardy fish, which is becoming ever more popular as the correct and much better choice than the poor Goldfish (Kingyo) to be kept in small home aquariums.

Some have shorter fins and this applies mostly in the case of wild species especially other existing species, not just Betta splendens. Plakats are a fairly common form of betta splendens that have short-finned males.

A couple of days ago I received a phone call from my sister in law concerning the death of her fighting fish ( Betta splendens ).

The most commonly seen Anabantid is probably the Betta or Siamese Fighting Fish (which is generally said to be Betta splendens but is probably a crossbreed).

"Betta splendens" (most common types of bettas found in Walmart, any pet store) are really Siamese Fighting Fish.
They'll likely chase and kill the female if she sticks around and even attack their own reflection in a mirror.

This is a popular and easy to care for fish that has been bred in many different colours. Males are extremely territorial, giving the fish its common name.

There are several different species of Bettas, though the one most often seen in the aquarium hobby is Betta splendens, the Siamese Fighting Fish.
All Bettas are tropical fish found in the warm and hot waters at lower altitudes in southeast Asia.

Some of which are: Betta splendens (Siamese Fighter), Betta picta (Java Fighter), Betta pugnax (Penang Mouthbrooding Fighter), Betta bellica (Striped Fighter), and Betta imbelis (no common name). B. bellica and B.

Siamese Fighting Fish (Betta splendens): This fish is my favourite. You can see it is blue and red in colour, where there are many strains now. It is renowned for its aggresive rivalry with males of the same species, so it must be seperated.
