I purchased a bag of Bio-Spira from Marineland Labs. I have 2 ten gallon tanks.
Bio-Filtration - while their primary function is to produce healthy water conditions for fish, bio-filters also reduce waste buildup both mechanically and biologically.
Bio-balls A filter media used for the colonization of bacteria.

They are found in the south-eastern part of Lake at depths from 0 - 32 feet (10 m) inhabiting rocky bottomed areas. They search in the recesses of the substrate and in the bio cover for inverts to feed on.
1000 (US gallons) or more is the minimal pond size to avoid sunting and early death. Pond must have good bio-filtration to handle the heavy waste produced by this species.
Small tanks containing fish that don't filter-feed should use a mechanical or bio-mechanical filter if not frequent chaynjez of water. Chlorine and chloramine from water treatment are toxic to fish.
This is especially problematic, since it will spike your ammonia to levels your bio-filter can't handle. It can also cultivate the growth of fungus in your tank, which scaleless fish like puffers are especially susceptible to.
