A Biotope from the "Me" Decade
Perhaps my all-time favorite is the Skippy Fletcher tank biotope. In this biotope, the aquarist seeks to replicate the tank owned by Skippy Fletcher, one of my boyhood pals.

The normal biotope should be copied to provide optimum care. These fighting fish reside in peat swamp forests, underneath trees where hardly any sunlight penetrates the canopy. Many roots and branches with hardly any plant growth.

The brackish biotope
Brackish habitats can be found in nature throughout the world where river deltas meet the ocean. estuaries, mangrove forests, or swamps.

Firstly, because this is their natural biotope. As I always proclaim, fishkeeping is both an art and a science. It is always stupid to neglect nature's lessons.

These are referred to as 'Biotope' aquariums. They replicate a natural water way, such the Amazon Basin for an Amazon biotope, and incorporate plants and fish found in those habitats.
