Blood Worms
If you have carnivorous fish you may want to supplement their diet with some blood worms. Your other fish will love these as well. Blood worms are high in protein and only feed them to your fish occasionally.

Gonz only likes the blood worms, and the new guys only like the flakes but it does a number on the water. I have to change it every three or four days. I'm trying to get them off the flakes and onto the other foods.
If live food is not available, frozen packages of Blood Worms (Midge Fly larvae), Brine Shrimp and others are available from your favorite pet supply store and are acceptable substitutions for the live food.
They eat live goldfish, frozen blood worms, some flakes foods, and pellet foods as well. The two knives get two fish about every other day, the other days they get to feed on something other than live fish.

In the aquarium they can be fed frozen blood worms, brine shrimp, and small protein cichlid pellets, They need some vegetable matter, so include some spirulina based foods along with a pea or piece of spinach.
Personally, I vary the diet of my puffers between live ghost shrimp, live snails, frozen bloodworms, and the occasional live blood worms.

I do find that there are foods I prefer and first on the list is blood worms. These are not actually worms but the larval stage of a fairly large midge-like insect.

The foods of choice for this species seem to be blood worms, freeze-dried tubifex worms and frozen daphnia. For some reason, this Corydoras species does not like brine shrimp. After one month, the wild-caught yellow tinge had completely faded.
Within a day or two it will readily take Mysis, blood worms, and other such foods. However, I have seen far too many fish starve in the long or short run on just such a diet.

Once in awhile it is good to get a small clear bowl and put a little bit of blood worms inside the bowl for them to eat when they come out.

They have single animal-ingredient like mosquito larvae, blood worms and Tubifex worm each. Aquarist should note that freeze-foods are not in themselves complete diet but they can be combine to flake food or other type of freeze-dried foods.

Betta falx is not picky about food and will eat both live and prepared foods. I feed frozen blood worms, baby brine shrimp, and hikari cichlid gold baby pellet. The females are more aggressive feeders then the males.

A good treat or even a staple diet for Siamese Fighting fish is bloodworms. There are freeze-dried variety and frozen variety. The frozen blood worms are more palatable then the freeze dried bloodworms.
