SYN: Mistaken for a morph of Tropheus moorii.
PD: T. brichardi has a rounded head and an under-slung mouth. The color is brown to brown black as are the fins.

There are a number of different Tropheus species recognized today and five that are scientifically described; the Blue-Eyed Tropheus T. brichardi, White Spotted Cichlid T. duboisi, Blunthead Cichlid T. Moorii, T. annectens, and Poll's Tropheus T.
