A final surprise for me was all these betta jars, on shelves on an outside shaded wall at the rear of the fish house.

The Blue Gourami is very common to the aquarium hobby. It is identical to the Gold Gourami (same species) and care will be exactly the same, the Opaline Gourami is also in this same species. The body is blue or blue-gray in color.

Like the Blue Gourami, Gold Gourami, and Platinum Gourami, this gourami is a color morph of the Three-spot Gourami.

I keep mine with 2 Dwarf Gouramis and 2 blue Gouramis in a 45 gl tank. They are also very hardy and make them great fish for beginners....and one last thing, dont ever catch them with a net. From: Dennis B.

Poseidon:> I think a blue gourami could hold it's own in a julie tank (if it's large, if not try a gold). Gouramis are said to like hydra...I wonder if some sort of pleco would eat them Thanks for the response - you're quick tonight.

Gold, Silver, and Cosby Gouramies are also widely available and are simply artificial color varieties of the Blue Gourami. Blue Gouramies can get up to 6" long.

The Gold Gourami is a color variation of the Blue Gourami that is a deep orange with lighter orange shading. The Gold Gourami also has rust colored markings and is lacking the "spots" of the Blue Gourami.

I have a baby peacock eel and would also like to know about the life span and i also hve some blue gourami fish with it but when it gets older and bigger should i move the peacock eel to another tank so it doesn't eat the other fish ...

She has a single mid-sized discus (3" or so), 1 blue gourami, 1 gold gourami, and 1 common pleco in there at the moment. The tank substrate is pea sized river gravel with a few plastic plants and decorations.

Much of the time, they will crowd together, particularly if there is something like a Blue Gourami in the aquarium with them, and behave like the archetypal shoaling Characin. However, once adulthood is attained, something else manifests itself.

Even with not-so-subtle manmade creations like pigeon blood discus, coral blue gouramis, fancy angelfish and so forth, I think I can see this more in freshwater species than in marine.
