The Cobalt Blue Zebra originated in deep rocky waters of Lake Malawi in Africa. It is also known as the Cobalt Blue Mbuna and the Cobalt Zebra. The scientific name is Metriaclima callainos, but see the discussion below about Metriaclima estherae.

They are sold under a variety of names, including "blue zebra", "red zebra" (pictured), and "assorted" african cichlids. These fish are on the small side for cichlids, but they are definitely as aggressive as many of the larger species.

Keep several females for each male. Use a temperature of 25-28°C. The Blue Zebra is a mouth Brooder.
