Blyxa japonica

Aquarium Blyxa aubertiiBoehlkea Fredcochui

Blyxa japonica seems to be an easy plant to grow. I currently have it under high lighting and in another tank with no heater and filter. Grows very well. Will stay green but until I add iron liquids and iron bottom ferts. Grows blood red.

Blyxa japonica is a great plant for aquascaping. It is not very demanding, only needing moderate light and CO2 injection, and it forms such beautiful grassy effects.

I began with 10 pots of hemianthus callichtroides "cuba" (more commonly known as HC), 8 pots of hairgrass (eleocharis acicularis), 12 blyxa japonica and several bunches of ludwigia repens. On day one, things looked rather sparse.
