The Brown Discus (Symphysodon aequifaciatus axelrodi) will also stay at a size of 15 centimeters (6 inches). Its body is brown or yellowish brown. The Heckle Discus (Symphysodon discus) is commonly referred to as just "Discus".

PD: The Brown Discus has the typical rounded discus shape. The coloration ranges, but for the most part the body is yellow-brown with nine vertical stripes.
Brown Discus are round in shape and are very thin laterally. They can grow to diameters of ten inches (20 centimeters) and are quite graceful in appearance.
Last spring I took the plunge into Discus again; this time I bought a mated pair of brown Discus.
aequifasciatus axelrodi, the Brown Discus, and S. aequifasciatus aequifasciatus, the Green Discus. Discus are among the most popular of all aquarium fish.
haraldi (the blue/brown discus); Ready, Ferreira & Kullander (2006) consider this species to be S. aequifasciatus.

The stingrays are accompanied by a school of 30 cardinal tetras, 5 brown discus and a possible breeding pair of Apteronotus albifrons (black ghost knifefish).
Here some figures: KMnO4-consumption in mg/l up to 12 low, gun-laying data for dringking-water 20 to 56 biotope of Red Neon 26 to 59 biotope of Discus Heckel 13 to 27 biotope of "Brown Discus" > 100, up to 250 max.
