The Buenos Aires Tetras are great fish; they are excellent in my 300 gallon community aquarium, even leaving the tiny Glowlight tetras alone. Having more than 6 of them helps minimize any aggression toward other fish.

The Buenos Aires Tetra is very common and inexpensive. The body will be plain silver. The fins will all be orange in color. The caudal fin will also have a black stripe running right down the middle, horizontally.

The Buenos Aires Tetra has very similar care needs to the Bloodfin above. The Buenos Aires must be kept in shoals of 6 plus and should not be kept with long-finned fish as they may well fin nip.

Some fish, notably silver dollars, Buenos Aires tetras, severums and tinfoil barbs will devour most plants to the roots in no time at all. Others, like most larger cichlids, will keep plants uprooted and mangled.
