The Red Tail Barracuda, also known as the Spotted Cachorro, has become a more common import in the last several years. It is one of a dozen or so species belonging to the genus Acestrorhynchus.

SYN: Hydrogon falcatus, Xiphoramphus falcatus, Xiphorhynchus falcatus
PD: A somewhat elongated fish that has a large mouth and eyes. Its body is silver in color.
The most distinguishing characteristic of this fish is the large, sharp teeth that are easily seen. Often referred to as the Freshwater Barracuda or Spotted Cachorro, this fish is a Characin related to both tetras and the piranha.
