Calcium hydroxide Ca(OH)2: See kalkwasser.
Calcyx: Calyces plural. See anthostele.
Callus: A layer covering the umbilicus in gastropods.

Calcium Hydroxide: A substance mixed with water and dripped into the aquarium to maintain calcium "Ca(OH)2", pH, and alkalinity levels. See kalkwasser.

The use of calcium hydroxide (kalkwasser), when introduced by Alf Nielsen in 1990, probably did more to enable us to keep SPS corals than just about any other advancement in reefkeeping to that point. Before this discussion by Mr.

Additional calcium hydroxide was added to the original solution (2 g/600 mL), the solution was stirred for an hour, and the solution was allowed to settle for 24 hours.

However, kalkwasser (calcium hydroxide) is preferred, as adding kalkwasser does not upset the alkalinity or ionic balance the way calcium chloride can. calcium hydroxide Ca(OH)2. See kalkwasser.

Oh yeah, and some or all of the fresh water to replace evaporation is a calcium hydroxide solution. Bloody complicated, isn't it? :) >Second, I have not read Dr.

Kalkwasser is basically and very simply a liquid mixture made up of calcium hydroxide and water. To prepare this mixture you should, preferably, use treated water (e.g. reverse osmosis, deionized or distilled).

The Kalkwasser reactor is a DIY that mixes Kalkwasser (Calcium Hydroxide) which is dripped into the sump thru a dosing pump to replace all the evaporated water. All water used for top off as well as water changes is filtered water thru an R.O/D.

Calcium hydroxide (CaOH) also called slaked lime, hydrated lime, Kalkwasser (Lime water), Calcium hydrate or pickling lime[2]
Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) also called lye or caustic soda (this is usually found in cleaning[3] ...

Kalkwasser is calcium hydroxide that is usually administered using a dosing system.

b) KW
- kalkwasser or saturated calcium hydroxide solution as mentioned
in the subtopic of handling evaporation under the temperature main topic.
c) Commercial 2-part ionic salts ...

Kalkwasser: A term referring to water with dissolved calcium hydroxide. It is used to add inorganic calcium to the water.
Killifish: A very beautiful group of fish which can be quite hard to find.

WHAT IS KALKWASSER? AND HOW DO I DOSE IT? by Robert M. Metelsky
Summary: Kalkwasser/limewater/calcium hydroxide should be used for water added to make up for evaporation losses. It must be administered with care.

calcium carbonate
CaCO3. Calcium in sea water precipitates (becomes a solid) as calcium carbonate, which forms the shells of mollusks and the skeletons of corals and invertebrates. calcium hydroxide
Ca(OH)2. See kalkwasser.

Copper, ammonia, and phosphates also threaten the stability of your tank’s environment. Chemical filtration utilizes chemically enhanced products to treat the water. Activated carbon is the leading medium used. Others such as calcium hydroxide, ...
