Checkered Barb (Barbus oligolepis): Nice looking fish, a sort of orange/brown colour. Males tend to be larger, and the colours can be more intense. Would do best in a school.

In some species (usually smaller barbs), like Tiger Barbs or Checkered Barbs, in smaller groups the fish will quickly establish a pecking order within their group and will turn their aggression onto other fish in the tank.
The checker barb (Puntius oligolepis), checkerboard barb, checkered barb, or island barb is a tropical freshwater fish belonging to the minnow family (Cyprinidae). It is native to creeks, rivers, and lakes in Sumatra, Indonesia.

After trying two other tanks where they didn't seem happy, I finally put them in a 20-gallon with some checkered barbs and harlequin rasboras. Then they settled down and their colors came out in full glory. I think these fish are real beauties.
