Cleaner Wrasses (Labroides spp.)
Removing them from Hawaiian waters is illegal since 1996 for good reason; most survive only a few weeks in captivity. Why do they continue to be sold? Because aquarists continue to purchase them.

Cleaner wrasses have long been recognized as predators on various parasitic crustaceans commonly found on fish.

Has been known to get along fine with, but not limited to, the following: Sabae Clown, Blue Damsels, Cleaner Wrasse. Cons : Suspect predation on Christmas Tree Worms. May steal food from anemones. Also suspected of eating Ricordia.

Going back to more colorful fish, one of the highlights was finding three separate cleaning stations where bluestreak cleaner wrasses (Labroides dimidiatus) were busy cleaning other fish.

The best known of these are the cleaner wrasses of the genus Labroides found on coral reefs in the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean.

Should be fed 3 times daily, some may accept flake food, live/frozen brine shrimp, however this must be checked before purchasing a cleaner wrasse. Most will pick off parasites from larger fish.

The False Cleaner Wrasse ( Plagiotremus sp.) swims actively in the tank. It advertises itself as a cleaner, but nips a piece of fin off the unsuspecting fish that is expecting to be cleaned ! ...

You will find that there are other fishes you may wish to add such as six-line wrasse, or cleaner wrasse and so on. These are specialized fish that you add for specific functions (eat bristleworms, clean other fish of parasites and so on).
