Corydoras julii and C. trilineatus are two different species. In C. julii the spots on its head are distinct and individual. On C. trilineatus, the spots on its head are joined three or more together to form patterns. Also C.

PD: The body is stocky and deep, with an arched back. Two rows of bony plates make up each side of the fish. The upper has 21-23 plates, while the lower 19-21.

It is a peaceful bottom dwelling scavenger often mistaken for Corydoras julii. This species can be identified by a more defined, linear pattern of black dots upon its head and vertical banding upon its silver body.
Firstly Corydoras julii tends to have a more broken mid-body lateral stripe. The top image on this page shows a very bold strongly defined line which is a good example although, again, the image to the left is less well defined. In C.
2-Corydoras julii, 1-C. pastazensis, 6-C. pygmaeus, 1-Farlowella acus. As a side note, I bought the C. pygmaeus thinking they were, as advertised, Otocinclus, and didn't realize until putting them in their new home what they really were.
