Origin: South-America, Colombia, Rio Meta, Rio Guaviare, Rio Ocoa & Rio Manacacias.(Compare this to C. melini : Brazil, Amazonas, Rio Papuri, Rio Uavpes, Rio Amazonas.

 


Corydoras metae was originally described in 1914, and subsequently named after Rio Meta, the river where it was first found, . Rio Meta is a major tributary of the Orinoco River in Colombia, and is the primary river of the eastern plains of Colombia.

Why, it's Corydoras metae, the "Bandit Corydoras!" This fish prefers to have some open gravel swimming space, shaded by large broadleaf plants. A rocky cave or other secure hiding place is also apreciated. C. metae will readily take prepared foods.
