Corydoras paleatus, Jenyns, 1842
Origin: Brazil, La Plata region. Uruguay, Montevideo, and Argentina, In a small lake near Beunos aires and Rio Parana. Paraguay, at the border with Uruguay and Argentina.
Corydoras paleatus is a common variety of the Corydoras genus of catfish. Its common name is peppered cat, pepper cory or salt & pepper cory.

Corydoras paleatus was introduced in aquaria in 1876. The first reproduction in aquarium was realized in 1878 by Carbonnier.
Corydoras paleatus (Peppered Cory) has been available to the aquarist for a long time. It was one of the first corydoras species to spawn in the aquarium.

Corydoras paleatus
SYN: Callichthys paleatus, Corydoras marmoratus
PD: The body is stocky and deep, with an arched back. Two rows of bony plates make up each side of the fish. The upper has 22-24 plates, while the lower 20-22.
In addition to the common green/bronze Cory, the albino (complete with pink eyes) morph and the closely related peppered cat (Corydoras paleatus) also make fine scavengers.
There have been numerous reports about full grown Corydoras paleatus spawning in a 30cm (11.8") tank or even smaller, but of course no-one reports the failures. Take it from me that the bigger the tank, the higher the success rate.
Albino Palaetus and Aeneus cory catfish (Corydoras paleatus and C. aeneus) are being injected with dyes to produce colored spots on the top of the caudal peduncle between the dorsal and caudal (tail) fins.
