Crenicichla are stealth-predators that lunge at small fish that pass by their hiding places, while Cichla are open water pursuit predators that chase down their prey.

But the most amazing thing about these small things, is that I can have them with my big Crenicichla Xingu I's without being harmed.

To demonstrate the point, the picture below is of an 24cm Asterophysus which has recently despatched a 40cm male Crenicichla marmorata; previously thought to be safe from the big gulp of the catfish.

Crenicichla regani and C. compressiceps would be the two most common and they make the round on Aquabid and occasionally pop up in shops. A specialist may be able to get them for you.
