Cyprinids occur on all the continents except South America, Australia and Antarctica. This wide distribution suggests they had a long time to spread, and it is believed they separated from the Characiformes (characids) at some point very early on.

Cyprinids family is part of the Cyprinoidea class and it is well represented in Europe, Asia, Africa and North America.

Food: Varies, but almost all cyprinids will accept flake food, and many relish small live foods.

Care should be very similar to a Bala Shark or other big Cyprinids. Be careful when choosing other fish, these guys can be somewhat unpredictable. Plants make the best decorations for this fish. Keep decorations towards the edges of the aquarium.
