Deionizer

Aquarium DeionizationDelhezi Bichir

Deionizer: A filtration device used to purify tap water before it is introduced into the aquarium. They are normally composed of many chemical and mechanical filtration media.
Demersal Fish: Fish living near and on the bottom.

Deionizer - A device that filters tap water prior to aquarium use.
Diatom Filter - A mechanical filter that uses diatomaceous earth to remove fine particles
from the water.

Discus - A cichlid from South America.

Deionizer: A device for filtering water that uses several ion exchange resins to purify and remove impurities from the water.

A Deionizer:
The deionizer is a much simpler design than the R.O. unit. It operates on a one-stage principle, using a container filled with a resin material that removes contaminants.

Deionizer - A device used to filter water of its impurities.
Deitrification - The process of Nitrate being converted in to Nitrogen gas.

DIY deionizer ...

deionization / deionizer
A process for filtering tap water of impurities before adding to the aquarium. Deionization removes important trace elements that should be replaced before adding to your aquarium.

Ion exchange deionizers (Dl) use synthetic resins similar to those used in water softeners. Typically used on water that has already been prefiltered, DI uses a two-stage process to remove virtually all ionic material remaining in water.

The best (and most expensive, of course) is to use a reverse osmosis (RO) deionizer and mix the resulting water (GH=0) with tap water to get the desired GH.
