The Diamond Tetra, also known as Brillantsalmler, Diamond Characin, Pittier's Tetra and Timanttitetra is native to South American inland waters. They are said to sparkle like a diamond with their silvery scales and orange accents.

The diamond tetra (Moenkhausia pittieri) is a small freshwater fish of the characin family (family Characidae) of order Characiformes. It is found in and around Lake Valencia in Venezuela, South America.
Small to medium-sized tetras (such as the Diamond Tetra), dwarf cichlids and hatchet fish are good additions. Generally the fish will mix well with most community tank citizens. Keep in groups of at least six.

boehlkei, both of which are easily recognized by the black lines originating in the lower half of their caudal (tail) fins and running forward, the shiny Diamond Tetra - Moenkhausia pittieri, and the beautiful, trident-tailed Emperor Tetra - N.
Four weeks later I added 3 Cory cats that the serpaes terrorized, almost completely taking the tail off one. They also nipped at the tails of diamond tetras I added a few weeks later. I returned the serpaes and got some cardinals.
