Secchi Disc
A circular disc, divided into quarters and painted alternately black and white. The disc is lowered on a rope of chain in to the water and used as a measure of water clarity.

Tall and disc shaped. The males dorsal fin is pointed and the end extends to form a filament, the anal fins first ray is much longer than the rest. The females dorsal fin is rounded with her anal fin front being longer.

A coconut fiber disc, US dollar for size comparison.
After wetting this disc will almost fill a quart bowl.

Angelfish are laterally compressed or look like a disc on edge with long fins coming out of the top and bottom and have 2 'feelers' in front of the anal or bottom fin.

Disc - The circular corallum of solitary, free-living fungiids.
Distal - The end of a branch or remotely situated from the center.
Dorsal directive septum - Part of the septal configuration of Porites.

PD: A disc-shaped, laterally compressed cichlid with tall, erect fins. The body shape is similar to that of P. scalare but the forehead is more steeply sloped and the body is taller. The fins are also more elongated on this species.

The body shapes of cichlids range from the disc-like Discus, to the long and pointy Checkerboard. These tropical fish might be very colorful, though many fish in this family get very huge-some species even as much as three feet long.

Some specimens such as "Otorongo Ray" are reported to attain up to one meter in disc size. Growth rate is related to food supply, to a certain degree, but correctly kept rays are said to be fierce feeders and fast growers! ...

It injects an extremely fine mist of CO2 bubbles thru a ceramic disc. Because of the high solubility of CO2, and my injection depth (~1 foot or 30cm), I suspect that by the time the mist is half way towards the surface, ...

I have also given permission for some clubs to copy the entire site onto disc for circulation amongst club members who cannot afford Internet charges.

Cichlids vary in body shape; some are compressed and disc-shaped, some triangular or oval, and some elongate and cylindrical.

They're a hardier ray and have a sand paper like disc, as opposed to the soft disc of a hystrix. I no longer have these rays or arowana. My male ray killed the female during courtship and the arowana and male ray were sold to a friend.

Description: The Mono Argentus is a disc- shaped fish with a flattened body, similar to that of a freshwater Angelfish. Its body coloration is a shiny silver with light yellow coloring on the dorsal, anal and tail fins.

Their mouths contain small teeth, rather than the rasping disc that is common for many Pleco species. This means that Zebra's cannot be used as an algae control in your tank.

The body will be disc shaped with a silver color. The scales will be very tiny. They look very similar to Piranhas except they lack the powerful lower jaw. Males may have an orange area around the gills, females will lack this feature.

Body shapes range from the disc-like Discus, to the long and pointy Checkerboard. These fish can be very colourful, although many fish in this family get to a very big proportion.

I've tried all kinds of CO2 diffusers before, from just sticking the CO2 tube into my Eheim filter intake, to ceramic disc diffusors in the tank, to a dedicated powerhead "bubble-basher.

The disc like suckermouth common among many loricariids has evolved into a structure more suited for searching and sifting than rasping algae or maintaining a fixed position in turbulent water. This adaptation is borne out by the aquarium behaviour.

The maroon clowns have laid eggs! A patch of about a hundred bright orange eggs just to the left of their anemone's base, often hidden by the disc of the anemone.

These are not recommended for a marine invertebrate tank, as they attack other species, such as sponges. Starfish are in fact either carnivorous, gripping their prey with their long arms that emerge from a central disc, or microphages, ...

Gobies are small fish, reaching an average of 3 to 4 inches in length. The most distinctive aspect of the goby is the fused pelvic fins that form a disc-shaped sucker that they use to perch on rocks.

theory and measures the order (or disorder) observed within a particular system. In ecological studies, this order is characterized by the number of individuals observed for each species in the sample plot (e.g., biofilm on a plexiglass disc).

8mm with pronounced germinal disc. The incubation period is about 144 hours (six days). Shortly after the embryo emerges from the egg case it becomes free-swimming and immediately takes food.
